So you drive a hybrid. And you’re reaping rewards from your EnergyStar appliances. You pay attention to your external energy consumption. But how’s it going with your internal energy consumption?
Are you running a {personal} clean energy campaign?
It’s not always so easy. A personal story about where I got tripped up…
Monday of last week. A meeting looming on Friday. Stagnation. Resistance. Procrastination.
Tuesday of last week. A phone call postponing the meeting until Tuesday. Elation. Ecstasy. Recentering.
Wednesday of last week. The meeting is back on. Frustration. Anxiety. Tension.
Thursday of last week. Travel day. I need to get in the car. Denial. Pretending I don’t have anywhere to be. Maybe I’ll meet a friend for lunch and soak in this gorgeous sun?
Friday of last week. Meeting day. I show up wearing orange and some killer heels. Attitude shining. Presence illuminated. Gifts on fiy-ah. Praise.
Last week I was running like a coal-fired power plant.
I was desperately seeking more resources, burning my reserves, and cycling through rolling blackouts just to get through the week. And like magic, when Friday arrived I tapped into the solar energy that was there {had always been there} to give the best of myself and create the results I wanted to see.
A clean energy campaign aligns us with the most powerful, efficient versions of ourselves. {tweet this}
When you run on clean energy, you can see how the day-to-day fits with the long-term future. Leadership is a practice of tuning into your clean energy sources and learning how to create from wherever you are – right now.
Here’s what I’m taking away from last week:
Repower with renewable energy.
Renewable energy = desire, love, passion. When you act from a place of desire, it becomes possible to get results and then get more results. It isn’t that you don’t experience tension or anxiety. You do. When you are grounded to renewable energy sources you can continue to take action towards creating the results you want. And as you see those results come into being, your energy increases. You want more. You have more to give. Your power base grows, instead of dips.
Retrofit your inefficiencies.
Where are you leaking energy? Are your relationships taking more than they give? Are you spending too much time with your to-do list instead of in flow? Does social media have you in its clutches? Last week my biggest energy suck was at the level of choice. I had a choice. Go to the meeting. Don’t go to the meeting. Either decision would have been fine. I was caught somewhere in between and rapidly losing heat. If it feels inefficient, it probably is.
Modernize your energy grid.
Modern energy grids have laser focus. They deliver the right amount of energy at the right time. No more, no less. Results come at the moment that they are needed. A clean energy campaign recognizes the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. Use the gap to define what’s needed and draw the necessary energy to propel you forward.
Generate clean power.
Are you polluting your own air space? Time to reduce emissions. Life has been speaking to you for a long time about what matters most. You know what it is. Clean power is the courage to pay deep attention to both your inner world and your outer world. Follow the path until the vision reveals itself. This is the journey of a leader.
